Veteran Engineer Symonds Set to Join Andretti Cadillac F1 Team.

Veteran engineer Pat Symonds has departed from his position as Formula 1's chief technical officer to join the Andretti Cadillac F1 team.

Seventy-year-old Pat Symonds, former technical boss of the Renault and Williams teams, will become Andretti's executive engineering consultant after completing his garden leave from F1.

The exact date of his start has not been disclosed.

Andretti's bid to join the F1 grid in 2025 or 2026 was rejected in January. F1 stated it would reconsider the bid once Cadillac, a part of General Motors, completes its F1 power unit for the 2028 season.

F1's commercial rights holder has declined to comment on Symonds' move.

Andretti Global CEO Michael Andretti expressed excitement about Symonds joining the team. "Pat's expertise in aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, and F1 power units will be crucial as we build a competitive team. His decision to join us is a significant vote of confidence."
