Unexpected Changes: Hudson-Smith and Hughes Withdraw from European Event.

European 400m record holder Matthew Hudson-Smith and sprinters Zharnel Hughes, Imani-Lara Lansiquot, and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake have decided not to compete in the upcoming European Athletics Championships as part of the British team.

Matthew Hudson-Smith recently set a new personal best in Oslo but decided to skip the European Athletics Championships to focus on preparing for the Paris Olympics.

Zharnel Hughes, a world bronze medallist, was seen limping after a race in Jamaica, though British Athletics hasn't confirmed any injury details.

Imani-Lara Lansiquot's absence and Daryll Neita's decision to focus on other events mean Amy Hunt will now compete in the women's 100m and relay, with Aleeya Sibbons joining the relay squad.

The championships in Rome start on June 7 and span six days. Notable athletes in the British team include world heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Olympic silver medallist Keely Hodgkinson.

Josh Kerr and Laura Muir, both champions in their events, had previously announced they wouldn't participate.
