Timoney and Izuchukwu Earn Spots in Ireland Squad for South Africa Tour.

Nick Timoney and Cormac Izuchukwu, both from Ulster, have made it into Ireland's squad for the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa.

Unfortunately, scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park won't be joining them due to an injury.

24-year-old Cormac Izuchukwu, who excels in both the second row and back row positions, has earned his first call-up to Ireland's squad after impressing with Ulster.

Alongside Izuchukwu, uncapped players Sam Prendergast and Jamie Osborne from Leinster have also been included in the 35-man squad.

Additionally, with Jack Conan unavailable for personal reasons, Nick Timoney gets the opportunity to build on his three caps and make an impact in the upcoming matches, with his last appearance for Ireland against Fiji in November 2022.

Ireland is set to take on the reigning World Cup champions in Pretoria on July 6th and in Durban on July 13th.

In recent encounters, Ireland has had the upper hand, winning the last three tests against the Springboks, including a notable 13-8 victory in the World Cup Pool B match in Paris last year. However, the Boks clinched a 2-1 series win the last time Ireland visited South Africa in 2016.

Currently sitting at the top of the world rankings after their World Cup triumph, South Africa will face Wales at Twickenham before their clash against Ireland.
