On the opening day of Royal Ascot, teenage jockey Billy Loughnane caused a major upset by guiding the 80-1 outsider Rashabar to victory.
18-year-old jockey Billy Loughnane secured his first Royal Ascot win at the Coventry Stakes, narrowly beating Electrolyte by a nose.
"It's the best feeling ever," said Loughnane, who raced in the green and blue colors of the Sangster family. "Watching races like this growing up, winning one has always been my dream."
On Tuesday, Rosallion, Asfoora, and Charyn also claimed top-level Group One victories.
Loughnane, known as 'Billy the Kid' for his remarkable talent, defied the odds with this win. "It's incredible to achieve this at such a young age," said the Worcestershire-based jockey.
The runner-up had odds of 40-1, and third place was a 50-1 shot, making the Tote Trifecta dividend an impressive £122,667.
