Swiatek's Winning Streak Ends; Alcaraz Advances Triumphantly.

Polish top seed Iga Swiatek's 25-match winning streak on Paris clay ended in the Olympics semi-finals by China's Zheng Qinwen.

Iga Swiatek, 23, who has dominated the French Open for the past three years, faced an unexpected defeat at Roland Garros. She was beaten 6-2, 7-5 by China's sixth seed, Zheng Qinwen, marking Swiatek's first loss at the venue since 2021.

As the top seed and favorite for Olympic gold, this loss was a significant blow for Swiatek, who already holds five Grand Slam titles. She was visibly upset after the match and opted not to speak to print journalists, a choice allowed under Olympic rules.

On the other hand, Zheng, 21, who was a finalist at the Australian Open earlier this year, now has a golden opportunity to secure the biggest title of her career.

The world number seven is set to compete in the gold-medal match on Saturday against either Croatia's Donna Vekic or Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

This victory could mark a major turning point in Zheng's rising career.
