Stevenson Defends WBC Title in Lackluster Bout.

American Shakur Stevenson successfully defended his WBC lightweight title with a points victory over Artem Harutyunyan in New Jersey. While Stevenson showcased his technical skills and maintained control throughout the bout, the fight lacked the explosive moments fans had anticipated.

Despite the underwhelming performance, Stevenson’s strategic prowess ensured his title remained secure, leaving fans eager to see if he can bring more excitement to his next defense.

Shakur Stevenson, 27, comfortably outclassed his Armenian opponent, Artem Harutyunyan, to retain his WBC lightweight title in New Jersey.

The judges scored the fight decisively in Stevenson's favor, with tallies of 119-109, 118-110, and 116-112.

Despite the clear victory, some boos emerged from the crowd, prompting Stevenson to defend his performance. "It's kind of hard to prove it if you don't got a fighter trying to fight back," he explained. Speaking to ESPN, Stevenson expressed his desire for more challenging opponents: "I want to fight the best fighters. That's how you're going to get to see the best version of me, when you put me in the ring with somebody else that wants to fight back and compete."

With a flawless record since his professional debut in 2017 and previous titles in the featherweight and super-featherweight divisions, Stevenson continues to seek more competitive matches to showcase his full potential.
