Sheffield United has been handed a two-point deduction for their next Championship match, as per a decision by the EFL.
During their promotion season in 2022-23, Sheffield United failed to meet EFL payment obligations, leading to rule violations.
As a result, they face a two-point deduction for their next Championship match, along with an additional two-point suspension.
The club expressed disappointment but chose not to appeal, opting instead to reach an agreement to minimize potential further penalties and legal costs.
The Blades will focus on the future, acknowledging their sanction, which includes covering the EFL's legal fees totaling £310,455.
These payment defaults occurred over 550 days and were observed while Paul Heckingbottom managed the team, resulting in a runners-up finish to Burnley.
