Gary Kirsten Outlines Goals as Pakistan's White-Ball Head Coach, Aiming for ICC Event Triumph.

Gary Kirsten, Pakistan's new white-ball head coach, has a clear goal in mind: winning at least one of the three upcoming ICC events over the next three years.

Having achieved World Cup success with India in 2011, Kirsten, currently serving as a mentor at Gujarat Titans in the IPL, is eyeing another triumph.

With two T20 World Cups in 2024 (Americas) and 2026 (India), along with the 2025 ODI Champions Trophy hosted by PCB, Kirsten is keen on guiding Babar Azam and the Pakistani team to victory in at least one of these marquee events.

Kirsten’s decision to join the Pakistan cricket team is tied to how well Gujarat Titans perform in the IPL 2024. If Gujarat Titans reach the playoffs, Kirsten will join them after May 26.

However, if they don’t make it, he’ll start his new role earlier, around May 22, just before Pakistan's tour of England begins.

Pakistan has three big ICC tournaments coming up: two T20 World Cups and one Champions Trophy. The new coach, a former left-handed batsman, says his main goal is to get the team performing at its peak.

When the team is at its best, they have a great shot at winning trophies. He wants to figure out where the team is currently and what it needs to do to compete at the highest level and win those ICC events.

Kirsten acknowledged that he's quite busy with his current IPL commitment, leaving him with limited time to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June, set to take place in the West Indies and USA.

He mentioned that sticking to his IPL contract is a priority, making it challenging to shift focus entirely.

However, he assured that plans for the T20 World Cup are already organized despite his tight schedule.
