Chris Jordan Poised for T20 World Cup Return as Chris Woakes Omitted.

Chris Jordan is on track to make a return to the England squad for the T20 World Cup. The official announcement of the provisional squad is scheduled for Tuesday.

Jordan's most recent T20I appearance was during England's series against New Zealand, marking his 88th cap in this format. He didn't participate in the white-ball tour of the Caribbean in December.

However, due to Jamie Overton's injury ruling him out, Jordan is set to step in, known for his bowling prowess and ability to contribute crucial runs down the batting order.

Sources indicate that Chris Jordan's return to the England squad is likely to result in disappointment for Chris Woakes. Woakes hasn't played for Punjab Kings in this IPL season.

Additionally, Ben Duckett has secured a spot as England's backup batter, notable as a left-hander.

Tom Hartley, although uncapped, is anticipated to beat Rehan Ahmed for the role of the second frontline spinner after Adil Rashid.

Jordan is a seasoned player with extensive experience, having participated in five previous World Cups and serving as Surrey's T20 captain for two seasons.

Despite being 35 years old, he contributed to England's successful 2022 campaign with two appearances, marking his fourth global T20 tournament. While his role in the Caribbean matches might be limited, he's renowned for his exceptional fielding skills and is often utilized as a substitute fielder.

Additionally, he's a dependable bowler, especially in the death overs.
