Multi-Year Deal Secured: BBC to Air European Championships.

BBC Sport has recently signed a multi-year deal to broadcast the European Athletics Championships, extending their coverage until 2027.

This month's European Athletics Championships in Rome marks the beginning of BBC Sport's new multi-year deal, which extends their coverage until 2027.

This agreement includes various key events like the 2026 European Championships in Birmingham, the European Indoor Championships in 2025 and 2027, and the European Cross Country Championships from 2024 to 2027.

Philip Bernie, BBC Sport's interim director, expressed excitement about adding the European Athletics Championships to their lineup, providing audiences with regular access to top-tier athletic performances.

The upcoming event in Rome will feature star athletes like world heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson, European 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson, four-time European gold medallist sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, and world indoor pole vault champion Molly Caudery.

However, notable names like world 100m bronze medallist Zharnel Hughes and European 400m record holder Matthew Hudson-Smith have withdrawn from the competition.

Audiences can catch the action on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website, and app, ensuring widespread access to these exciting athletic contests.
