MPs are calling on the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to keep a close watch on Yorkshire Cricket to ensure that there's no "return to business as usual."
Following the re-election of chair Colin Graves at Yorkshire, MPs are urging the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to closely monitor the club to prevent a return to the old ways.
Yorkshire faced fines last year for not addressing discriminatory language issues.
The Culture, Media, and Sport Committee expressed concern that the ECB's anti-discrimination commitment might not translate into action. They expect the ECB to keep a close eye on Yorkshire's efforts to address inequality and warned against reverting to a culture that allowed discrimination to thrive.
The committee will closely watch Yorkshire's progress in this regard. A report in 2023 by the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket revealed widespread discrimination in English and Welsh cricket, leading ECB chair Richard Thompson to call it a "wake-up call" for the sport.
