Mercedes Clarifies Russell’s Disqualification at Belgium GP.

Mercedes explained that George Russell's disqualification from the Belgian Grand Prix was due to his car losing more weight than anticipated in several spots.

Russell lost his win when his car was found to be 1.5kg underweight after the Belgian Grand Prix, promoting Lewis Hamilton to first place.

Trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin noted that factors like tyre wear, underfloor 'plank' wear, brake wear, and oil consumption contributed to the weight loss.

Additionally, Russell himself lost weight during the race, which was higher than anticipated.

Shovlin explained that Russell’s car experienced more weight loss due to higher tyre and plank wear compared to other cars.

Mercedes will analyze the data to improve their processes and avoid future issues. All F1 drivers lose weight during races, but Russell lost more than expected in this instance.
