Ireland's Mageean Secures 1500m Gold for Second Championship Victory.

32 years old, Ciara Mageean from Ireland secured her first major championship title by winning the 1500m event at the European Championships in Rome.

Ciara Mageean, known for her previous achievements with bronze and silver medals at European Championships, displayed her composure in a tactical 1500m battle.

She strategically positioned herself between Great Britain's Georgia Bell and Jemma Reekie in the final stretch, securing victory with 90 meters to go.

Her triumph added to Ireland's success at the championships, following the country's first European gold since 1998 in the 4x400m mixed relay event.

Mageean's finishing time of four minutes and 4.66 seconds gave her a lead of 0.67 seconds over Bell, with France's Agathe Guillemot claiming third place.

Despite the British duo's attempts to control the race by setting the pace early on, Mageean managed to find an opening and surged ahead in the crucial moments, ultimately claiming a well-deserved victory.
