Hodgkinson Kicks Off Olympic Title Pursuit with a Victory.

Great Britain's Keely Hodgkinson began her Olympic 800m title quest with a win, while Joshua Cheptegei secured the first track gold of Paris 2024 in the 10,000m.

Keely Hodgkinson, 22, aims for her first global title after finishing second at the World Championships for two years running. She secured her spot in the 800m semi-finals with a winning heat time of 1:59.31, joining teammates Jemma Reekie and 17-year-old Phoebe Gill.

In the 10,000m, Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei set an Olympic record of 26:43.14 to win gold, outpacing Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi and bronze medalist Grant Fisher of the U.S.

Great Britain’s mixed 4x400m relay team, featuring Samuel Reardon, Laviai Nielsen, Alex Haydock-Wilson, and Nicole Yeargin, set a national record with a 3:10.61 heat win. 

The U.S. team qualified fastest with a new world record of 3:07.41.
