Hathaway Set for Debut as Thomas Takes on Wales Fly-Half Duties.

Cardiff center Ben Thomas has been selected as Wales' fly-half, while wing Josh Hathaway will make his debut in the upcoming first Test against Australia in Sydney on Saturday.

Ben Thomas, 25, steps in for Sam Costelow to make his first start for Wales in his third Test match, following two substitute appearances in 2021.

He teams up with Cardiff colleague Ellis Bevan, who debuted in last month's 41-13 loss to South Africa at Twickenham.

Josh Hathaway, 20, from Gloucester, earns his debut on the wing, prompting Liam Williams to shift to full-back in place of Cameron Winnett.

Archie Griffin from Bath gets his first Test start in his second international, anchoring the tight-head prop position. Christ Tshiunza joins him in the lock, partnering with Dafydd Jenkins, while Cory Hill returns from the bench.

Injury sidelines prop Dillon Lewis and lock Ben Carter.

Aaron Wainwright celebrates his 50th cap, marking his Wales debut as a substitute in the 23-10 victory over Argentina in 2018.

Only Williams and prop Gareth Thomas remain from the squad that triumphed 40-6 over Australia in the World Cup in Lyon last September.
