Former Saints Forward Jones Diagnosed with Severe Brain Condition.

Former St Helens forward Josh Jones has revealed he is battling a serious brain condition.

The 31-year-old former Great Britain second rower, Josh Jones, retired in 2023 due to concussion issues after being released by Huddersfield Giants. He has now shared on X that he has been diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

“The news has been a shock for me and my family, bringing significant changes to our lives,” Jones said. “We appreciate the support during this difficult time.”

CTE, linked to repeated head injuries, worsens over time and can lead to dementia. Jones, who toured New Zealand and Papua New Guinea with Great Britain in 2019, made 246 Super League appearances.
