End of an Era: Murray's Olympic Doubles Finale Marks Career Close.

British tennis legend Andy Murray ended his professional career with a straight-set loss in the Olympic men's doubles quarter-finals.

Murray, the two-time Olympic singles champion, and Dan Evans lost 6-2 6-4 to American third seeds Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

Murray, 37, had confirmed before the Paris Games that it would be his final event before retiring from tennis.

"I'm proud of my career, my achievements, and what I put into the sport," said the former world number one, who won the US Open in 2012 and Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016.

After a long hug with Evans, Murray became emotional as fans at Roland Garros chanted his name. Evans encouraged him to take one last moment in the center of the court before heading to the locker room.

Shortly after, Murray said he was "ready" for retirement.
