Daley Bids Farewell to Diving: A Legendary Career Comes to an End.

Tom Daley, a five-time Olympic medalist, has officially announced his retirement from diving.

Tom Daley, now 30, has completed his diving journey by winning a silver medal in the men's synchronised 10m platform event in Paris alongside Noah Williams. This victory adds to his impressive collection, giving him a full set of Olympic medals—gold, silver, and bronze.

Daley, who first made his Olympic debut at just 14 during the 2008 Games, earned bronze in the 10m platform in London 2012 and Tokyo 2021, and in the men's synchronised 10m platform in Rio 2016. He finally struck gold in the individual 10m platform in Tokyo.

After his Tokyo triumph, Daley stepped away from the sport, considering his career complete. However, the chance to dive in Paris, with his family and two children in the stands, brought him back for one final competition.

Reflecting on his decision, Daley told the BBC, "It's always tough to say goodbye to your sport. But this year felt like a bonus—I got to compete in front of my family, my kids, and even be a flagbearer. It’s the perfect way to end my career."

As for what’s next, Daley said he’s eager to spend quality time with his family. "I’m excited to just be with them and feel a bit normal for a while."

Daley took a two-year break after his gold-medal win in Tokyo, but returned to the pool when his son Robbie, now six, expressed a desire to see his dad dive at the Olympics. Daley's husband Dustin Lance Black, Robbie, and their youngest son Phoenix, were all there to witness his final Olympic performance.
