Canada’s Drone Dilemma: Appeal Fails and Points Are Docked.

Canada’s women’s team has had their appeal rejected, resulting in a six-point deduction for using a drone to spy on a rival team’s practice at the Paris Olympics.

Canada lost six points and had coach Bev Priestman, along with officials Joseph Lombardi and Jasmine Mander, banned from football for a year after drones were spotted over New Zealand’s training sessions.

Canada accepted the bans but challenged the points deduction, which the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld. With zero points, Canada must win their final group match against Colombia to advance to the quarter-finals.

Coach Priestman was replaced on Saturday, and Fifa fined Canada’s Soccer Association £175,720. Assistant coach Andy Spence is now in charge.
