Briton Ali Aims to Prove Greatness with World Title Win.

British super-bantamweight Ramla Ali is determined to demonstrate her greatness by clinching her first world title on Saturday, aiming to prove herself to everyone.

The 34-year-old will face Mexico's WBC champion Yamileth Mercado in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ali's journey from a refugee fleeing war-torn Somalia to a model, activist, and now a challenger for a world title has been remarkable.

"I'm incredibly excited to be here and to show everyone that I belong here, fighting for the world title," she expressed.

Ali has won nine professional fights, with one loss to Julissa Alejandra Guzman in June 2023, which she avenged five months later.

"The first time was just luck; the second time, I showed I'm the better boxer. I plan to do the same on Saturday," Ali stated at Thursday's press conference.

She aims to follow in the footsteps of her idols Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard by claiming the prestigious green and gold WBC belt.

"If I become world champion, that's the belt I want. It solidifies my legacy and proves to everyone that I'm truly great," Ali affirmed.
