British Sprinter Hinchliffe Claims US College 100m Title with 9.95-Second Dash.

British sprinter Louie Hinchliffe made history as the first European to win the men's 100m at the NCAA Championships.

At just 21, Sheffield's Louie Hinchliffe sprinted to a stunning 9.95-second finish in Eugene, Oregon, securing the US collegiate title.

This remarkable achievement places him as the sixth fastest British sprinter ever and marks the ninth quickest time globally this year, making him the top European sprinter for 2024.

Hinchliffe competes for the University of Houston, where he trains under the legendary Carl Lewis, a nine-time Olympic champion. His performance not only sets a new benchmark for British athletes but also highlights the exceptional coaching and competitive environment at Houston.

"I got out hard, and it was kind of level. My form probably wasn't the best, but I gave everything to get to that line first," said Hinchliffe.

Hinchliffe will compete at the UK Championships in Manchester later this month, serving as the British trials for the Paris Olympics.

He won the English national title in 2022 and spent the 2023 season with Washington State before transferring to Houston to train under Carl Lewis.

Entering 2024 with a personal best of 10.17, he has steadily improved, running a wind-assisted 9.84 at the NCAA regionals two weeks ago.
