Boulter and Watson Advance to Women’s Doubles Quarter-Finals.

Katie Boulter and Heather Watson reached the Olympic women’s doubles quarter-finals with a straight-set victory over Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia and Luisa Stefani.

After dramatic victories by Andy Murray and Dan Evans in the men’s doubles, Katie Boulter and Heather Watson delivered a more straightforward win for Team GB in the women’s doubles, defeating Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia and Luisa Stefani 6-3, 6-4.

The British pair seized control early in the first set and maintained their lead with ease. However, the Brazilians intensified the challenge in the second set, pushing Boulter and Watson to save two break points.

Demonstrating resilience, Boulter’s powerful baseline shots complemented Watson’s swift net play. The Brits responded by breaking their opponents and ultimately secured the match on their third match point.

Next, Boulter and Watson will face Italy’s third seeds, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, both of whom have made it to the French Open semi-finals.
