Borthwick Encourages Young Squad to Step Into the Spotlight.

Head coach Steve Borthwick has encouraged his young England players to step out of the shadows as they aim to make history this summer.

Head coach Steve Borthwick has named a 36-man squad for the upcoming tour of Japan and New Zealand. While the forwards include a core of experienced players, the backline features many fresh faces due to several big names being retired or injured.

“Sometimes the best thing you can do is jump right in,” Borthwick remarked.

In a wide-ranging interview on the Rugby Union Weekly podcast, Borthwick emphasized his desire for players to be bold and proactive. “I don’t want players in the shadows. I don’t want them worrying about making mistakes. I want them on the pitch, aiming to win, and showcasing their unique strengths,” he said.
