Danish badminton star Viktor Axelsen defeat Taiwan’s Chou Tien-chen in straight sets and entitled the men’s singles title at the Indonesia Masters in Jakarta. At the Istora sporting arena in Jakarta the World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen beat Taiwan’s Chou Tien-chen by 21-10, 21-12 in a 41-minute match.

In the Indonesia Open Super 1000 event, P V Sindhu the two-time Olympic medalist was out shockingly in the first round. Seventh seed PV Sindhu lost by 14-21 18-21 to China's Bing Jiao in the women's singles in the Indonesia Open Super 1000 event. PV Sindhu the former world champion, has won two Super 300 titles - the Syed Modi International and the Swiss Open, this season.

India's top-ranked female and male badminton champions were knocked out in the quarterfinal stage in Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament on Friday. World Championship bronze medalist shuttler Lakshya Sen lost to Chou Tien Chen, the third-seed from Chinese Taipei, in a hard battle of three games in the quarterfinal match which lasted for one hour and two minutes.

PV Sindhu lost three games 19-21, 21-16, 17-21 in her second round match against Japan's Sayaka Takahashi at the All England Open. In the 10 appearances in the tournament so far, the two-time Olympic medalist has never made it to the finals. This is his third consecutive defeat against Takahashi after losing the French Open in 2021 and the Indonesia Masters in 2020.
