India's top-ranked female and male badminton champions were knocked out in the quarterfinal stage in Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament on Friday.
World Championship bronze medalist shuttler Lakshya Sen lost to Chou Tien Chen, the third-seed from Chinese Taipei, in a hard battle of three games in the quarterfinal match which lasted for one hour and two minutes.
The 32-year-old Chinese shuttler played his best and took the lead from the first while the World no.9 Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen was late to gear up to his best.
Before going into the break the Chinese shuttler enjoyed a lead of 11-9 and finally he defeated Lakshya Sen by 16-21 in the opening game.
In the second game Sen made a great comeback and won by 21-12 and made a tie. At the final game the Chinese shuttler made a huge margin from first and finally won the game by 14-21 and knocked out the World Championship bronze medalist shuttler Lakshya Sen.
Later in the day, two-time Olympic medalist winner P V Sindhu was defeated by Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon 12-21, 10-21 in 33 minutes.
