Luis Suarez Bids Farewell to 17-Year Uruguay Career with Goalless Draw Against Paraguay.

Luis Suarez’s 17-year career with Uruguay ended with a goalless draw against Paraguay in a South American World Cup qualifier.

Luis Suarez, 37, announced his retirement from international football on Monday. He leaves as Uruguay’s all-time top scorer with 69 goals in 143 appearances since his debut against Colombia in February 2007.

Before the match, Suarez and his family were honored on the pitch with tributes from fans and a video message from Argentina legend Lionel Messi, his team-mate at Inter Miami.

Suarez told the crowd, "Uruguay is bigger than any player. Starting tomorrow, I will be just another fan."
