Thiem's Career Cut Short: Early Retirement Due to Injuries.

Dominic Thiem, a former US Open champion, has announced his retirement scheduled for later this year. He cites a wrist injury as the primary reason for this decision, which has significantly impacted his career trajectory.

The 30-year-old Austrian tennis player, Dominic Thiem, who has reached four Grand Slam finals, plans to retire from professional tennis later this year. He aims to end his career on home turf at the Vienna event in October.

Thiem expressed mixed emotions about his decision, describing it as "very important, very sad, very beautiful." His primary reasons for retiring are his ongoing wrist injury, which has not healed as desired, and his inner intuition, as he has been contemplating this choice for a long time.

Thiem's career peaked with a Grand Slam victory at the 2020 US Open, elevating him to a career-best world ranking of third. However, a subsequent wrist injury sidelined him for ten months, causing his ranking to plummet outside the top 350.

Although he returned to the top 100 last year, Thiem has struggled to recapture his previous form and consistency on the ATP Tour.
