Swiatek Starts Olympic Journey with Paris Win.

Gold medal contender Iga Swiatek kicked off her Olympic campaign with a hard-fought win over Irina-Camelia Begu in Paris.

Despite the challenge, Swiatek’s performance showcased her readiness and determination as she embarks on her quest for Olympic glory.

Polish world number one Iga Swiatek, dominant on clay with three consecutive French Open titles, faced a tough challenge but overcame Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu 6-2, 7-5.

Swiatek, who has a 22-match winning streak at Roland Garros, will next play either Nadia Podoroska or Diane Parry.

Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, who was the runner-up to Swiatek in June, also moved forward with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Ana Bogdan.
