Leon Marchand (France) - swimming

The five-time world champion is set to be a standout at the Games, with high hopes for multiple gold medals in the pool.

When he's not studying computer science in the U.S., 22-year-old Marchand is busy breaking records. In 2023, he shattered Michael Phelps' 15-year-old 400m individual medley world record.

As the son of two Olympic swimmers, Marchand is already a world champion in the 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, and 200m butterfly.

Marchand aims to be the first swimmer to win both the 200m breaststroke and 200m butterfly at the Olympics, even though the events are scheduled on the same days.

Overall, Marchand, coached by Phelps' former coach, has a shot at four individual gold medals in front of his home crowd.
