Resilient Nadal Stages Comeback, Advances to Second Round in Rome.

Rafael Nadal showed his grit and determination as he geared up for the French Open. He faced a tough challenge against Belgian qualifier Zizou Bergs in the first round of the Italian Open in Rome.

Despite losing the first set, Nadal fought back fiercely, showcasing his trademark resilience and skill. With his impressive performance, he secured a victory and advanced to the second round, setting a strong tone for his upcoming matches in the tournament.

The former top-ranked player and a dominant force in Rome with 10 titles to his name, Nadal fought his way to victory with a 4-6 6-3 6-4 win.

At 37, he has hinted at retiring after this season, making each match more significant for fans.

Though not in peak form, Nadal's expertise on clay was evident as he navigated a challenging match, setting the stage for his potential last appearance at the French Open later this month.

Reflecting on his performance, Nadal acknowledged his game's unpredictability due to limited play in the last two years but expressed confidence in his capabilities moving forward.

Nadal made a comeback from injury in April at the Barcelona Open, progressing to the last 16 in Madrid before losing to Jiri Lehecka.

In Rome, he faced a stern test early on, battling against Bergs, the 108th-ranked player globally. Despite initial setbacks, Nadal's experience and determination shone through as he clinched crucial moments to secure the win.
