Premier League to Trial New Spending Cap System.

Premier League clubs have agreed to trial a new financial system, similar to a spending cap, for the 2024-25 season.

The Premier League will trial two new financial rules, the Squad Cost Rules (SCR) and Top to Bottom Anchoring Rules (TBA), alongside the existing Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in the 2024-25 season. These will be non-binding.

This season, Nottingham Forest and Everton faced points deductions for breaching the PSR.

Under the new system, teams can spend no more than 85% of their total revenues on their squads. The TBA, based on the earnings of the bottom club, aims to maintain competitive balance.

The clubs approved this decision at the Premier League's AGM, where they also decided to continue using VAR.
