Parkinson: Wrexham Could Have Triumphed Over Billionaire Chelsea.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson feels his team should have defeated the "billion-pound" Chelsea during their pre-season tour of North America.

The newly promoted League One team Wrexham nearly pulled off an upset against Premier League giants Chelsea, settling for a 2-2 draw in front of 32,724 fans at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

After Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku scored in the first half, Wrexham’s Jack Marriott and Luke Bolton put them ahead with second-half goals. However, Lesley Ugochukwu’s 82nd-minute equalizer salvaged a draw for Chelsea and their new boss, Enzo Maresca.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson praised his team’s performance, saying, “I’m absolutely delighted. Considering we were playing against a billion-pound team, and just two years ago we were in the National League, to compete so well with Chelsea is a huge achievement. We could and should have won the game.”
