Paris Olympics 2024: Indian Archers Set Sights on Ending 36-Year Medal Drought.

With a record-breaking performance in the ranking rounds, Indian archers are poised to break a 36-year Olympic medal drought. Riding high on their best-ever scores, they’re gearing up for a thrilling showdown in the medal rounds.

The excitement kicks off with the women’s finals this Sunday at the Paris Olympics, and the stage is set for a historic moment.

Indian archers are aiming high at the historic Les Invalides arena, buoyed by strong performances from Dhiraj Bommadevara (seeded 4th) and Ankita Bhakat (11th) in the qualifiers.

For the first time in 12 years, India has a full six-member team competing in all five events: mixed team, men's and women's teams, and individual categories.

The men's and women's teams, having advanced directly to the quarterfinals, need just two wins to secure India's first Olympic archery medal since their debut in Seoul 1988.

Historically, South Korea has been a tough opponent, but India may avoid them until the gold medal match, with the women's team possibly facing them in the semifinals.

On Sunday, the women’s team will battle the winners of the France vs. Netherlands quarterfinal for a spot in the semifinals. France, with home crowd support and a strong qualifier ranking, will be a tough opponent.

All eyes will be on Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur, and Deepika Kumari as they face this challenge under intense pressure.
