Ngannou and PFL Set to Launch African MMA Series in 2025.

In a groundbreaking move, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced plans to launch an African series in 2025, marking a significant expansion into the continent's MMA scene.

Adding to the excitement, Francis Ngannou, one of the sport's most celebrated figures and a heavyweight champion, has been named chairman of this new league.

With Ngannou's leadership and expertise, the African MMA series promises to showcase top-tier talent from across the continent and provide a platform for emerging fighters to shine on a global stage. This initiative not only aims to elevate MMA in Africa but also underscores the growing international appeal and reach of the sport.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL), known for its American and European circuits, is expanding into Africa with a new series set to launch in 2025.

Leading this initiative is Francis Ngannou, the Cameroonian heavyweight champion and newly appointed chairman of the league.

Ngannou, 37, envisions this expansion as a pivotal moment for African MMA, aiming to establish a strong foundation for the sport across the continent.

"There is an abundance of talent in Africa waiting for a global stage," Ngannou remarked. "I am incredibly proud to contribute to my homeland and deliver exciting content to a region with such passionate fans."

Having joined PFL last year, Ngannou is yet to compete in MMA under their banner, having focused on boxing bouts in Saudi Arabia recently. He brings a wealth of experience as a former UFC champion, joining other African-born fighters like Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya in achieving UFC world titles.

Recently, South Africa's Dricus Du Plessis became the latest African to claim a UFC belt, set to defend his middleweight title against Adesanya on August 17th, further highlighting the growing prominence of African talent in global MMA.
