Longtime BBC Sports Presenter Bonnet Announces Retirement Following Olympics.

BBC sports presenter Rob Bonnet has announced his retirement, marking the end of an impressive career with the organization that started back in 1977.

BBC sports presenter Rob Bonnet, 71, is set to retire after the Olympic Games this summer. He has been a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4’s Today since 2007, a program known for its comprehensive news coverage.

Reflecting on his time at the BBC, Bonnet expressed fondness, saying, “I shall look back with great affection for my time at the BBC which has allowed me to cover many important stories, meet countless outstanding sportsmen and women, form many friendships and visit numerous events all over the world."

Bonnet began his journey at the BBC as a station assistant at BBC Radio Brighton before transitioning into roles as a sports presenter and correspondent on television. He achieved recognition for his work, including winning an RTS award for coverage of the International Olympic Committee's selection of Sydney for the 2000 Olympic Games.

During his career, he contributed to BBC Breakfast as a sports presenter and hosted the sports interview program ‘Extra Time’ on BBC World TV.

Owenna Griffiths, editor of the Today program, acknowledged Bonnet's contributions, noting that he "will be missed."
