LA Lakers Appoint TV Analyst Redick as Head Coach.

The LA Lakers have made an unexpected move by appointing television pundit and former player JJ Redick as their new head coach, signaling a shift towards fresh perspectives and expertise within the team's coaching staff.

After retiring from a successful 15-year playing career with the Orlando Magic and LA Clippers, JJ Redick transitioned into punditry with ESPN. Now, he steps into coaching with the LA Lakers, despite having no prior coaching experience.

Redick, who also co-hosts a basketball podcast with Lakers star LeBron James, expressed his excitement at joining such a renowned franchise. He replaces Darvin Ham, who was let go by the Lakers in May.

Lakers' VP of basketball operations, Rob Pelinka, praised Redick's basketball intelligence and modern game understanding, highlighting the rigorous search process that led to his appointment.

Interestingly, the University of Connecticut's head coach, Dan Hurley, declined a reported $70 million offer to coach the Lakers earlier this month.
