Heinrich Malan, coach of the Ireland men's team, has signed a two-year contract extension, securing his position until mid-2027.
Heinrich Malan, a 43-year-old South African, took on the role of Ireland men's coach in January 2022 under a three-year contract. He led Ireland to success in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, notably defeating England.
While Ireland didn't qualify for last year's 50-over World Cup, they will participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup, with their first match against India on 5 June in New York.
During Malan's tenure, Ireland also achieved their first Test victory by defeating Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi in March.
Malan's contract extension aligns with the lead-up to the 2027 World Cup, co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
"I am delighted with the extension as it provides the squad and coaching staff a great deal more certainty as we build upon the foundations we have put in place over the last two years," said Malan.
