GB's McEwen Expresses 'Shock' Over Dujardin's Actions.

Great Britain's eventer Tom McEwen expressed "shock" at Charlotte Dujardin's treatment of a horse but stated he doesn’t believe such behavior reflects the sport as a whole.

Charlotte Dujardin, Britain's joint-most decorated female Olympian, withdrew from Paris 2024 on Tuesday after a video showed her "excessively" whipping a horse. She has since been provisionally suspended by the FEI, the equestrian governing body.

Tom McEwen, who will compete at Paris 2024 with JL Dublin, expressed his surprise and emphasized the need to portray the sport positively.

"I think it shocked everyone," McEwen said. "But we’re here to show our sport in the best light. Eventing is one of the greatest sports—like a triathlon for horses. I’d be happy to show anyone our yard and how well our horses are cared for. This week, we can demonstrate just how amazing our sport and our horses are."
