Disappointment for Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden as they Exit ATP Milan Open in Second Round.

Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden's successful run came to an end at the ATP Italian Open as they were defeated by Simone Bolelli and Andre Vavassori in straight sets with a score of 2-4, 4-6.

After defeating wildcards Matteo Arnaldi and Franceso Passaro in their opening match, Bopanna and Ebden couldn't maintain their momentum in the second round. Their opponents, Bolelli and Vavassori, didn't allow a single break point in the first set.

Additionally, the Australian Open Champions made two double faults early in the match, contributing to their downfall.

Bopanna and Ebden faced further challenges in the second set, getting broken three times by Bolelli and Vavassori.

Although they did break their opponents twice, it wasn't enough to turn the tide in their favor. This loss adds to a recent string of disappointing results, including their early exit from the Madrid Masters earlier this month.

Despite these setbacks, Bopanna and Ebden have had a successful streak, highlighted by their victory in the men's doubles at the Australian Open earlier this year.

In addition to their recent successes, Bopanna and Ebden achieved a remarkable milestone last year by winning the Indian Wells Masters.

This victory made Bopanna, aged 43, the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champion ever. Their impressive performances continued with a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon and reaching the final at the US Open in the same season.

Furthermore, Bopanna made history by becoming the oldest player to hold the world number one ranking in doubles, a feat achieved following their Australian Open triumph in January.
