Briton Dubois Set to Compete for 'Interim' WBC Title.

Briton Caroline Dubois will compete against Maira Moneo for the WBC 'interim' lightweight world title at Barnsley's Oakwell Stadium on Saturday, August 3rd.

Caroline Dubois, 23, has signed a long-term deal with Boxxer and will defend her IBO title against Uruguayan Maira Moneo at Barnsley's Oakwell Stadium on Saturday, August 3rd. Dubois is eyeing a future fight with undisputed world champion Katie Taylor.

"I'm ready to announce myself on the big stage. I want to be world champion," Dubois said. "I want to unify the division, become undisputed, and then move up in weight."

Katie Taylor holds all major light-welterweight titles and the WBA and WBC belts at lightweight, with a bout against Amanda Serrano scheduled for November.

Dubois added, "After this fight, I will be on a collision course with Katie Taylor. I will be the interim champion, her mandatory, and unless she vacates, we’re fighting next."

Moneo, 31, has only one loss in 15 professional fights. The Dubois-Moneo fight will be part of the undercard for the British and Commonwealth title fight between super-middleweights Zak Chelli and Callum Simpson at Barnsley Football Club's stadium.
