Boxer Resolves Allegations of Treatment Delay.

Nearly a decade after sustaining a life-altering brain injury during a fight, a boxer has reached a settlement in a High Court case that centered on allegations of delays in receiving treatment.

Jerome Wilson, from Sheffield, was 29 years old when he was knocked out during a fight with Cameroonian boxer Serge Ambomo at the city's Ice Arena on September 12, 2014.

Following the knockout, he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent a critical brain surgery described by his promoter as life-saving. He was then placed in a medically induced coma.

During a remote hearing on Wednesday, a judge approved the settlement of a civil claim brought by Mr. Wilson, supported by his mother.

'Excruciating Pain': Boxer Jerome Wilson's Legal Journey

Jerome Wilson's legal claim involved the British Boxing Board of Control, Dr. Carl Hutson, Inter-County Paramedics Limited, and David Coldwell.

The settlement, outlined in a court order, resolved issues stemming from injuries he sustained in a boxing match, alleging delays in treatment.

The trial scheduled for October has been canceled.

Earlier this year, Mr. Wilson, who underwent surgery involving a titanium plate in his skull, spoke to the BBC about continuing to endure excruciating pain from his injury.

He began his boxing career in 2010 and had a record of eight wins and two defeats before the September 2014 fight.
