UEFA Launches Investigation into 'Gibraltar is Spanish' Chant Incident.

UEFA has appointed a disciplinary inspector to look into an incident where Spain captain Alvaro Morata and teammate Rodri chanted "Gibraltar is Spanish" during their Euro 2024 victory celebrations.

On Tuesday, the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) lodged a formal complaint with UEFA about the celebrations.

The inspector will review whether the UEFA disciplinary regulations were violated.

Gibraltar, a British territory at Spain's southern tip since the 18th century, has long been claimed by Spain.

The chanting occurred on July 15 in Madrid's Cibeles Square, where Spain players celebrated their 2-1 Euro 2024 final win over England in front of thousands of fans.
