United States sprinter Erriyon Knighton has received clearance to participate in the Paris Olympics despite escaping a ban for a failed drug test.
In April, 20-year-old United States sprinter Erriyon Knighton faced a provisional suspension due to a positive test for a trenbolone metabolite in March. However, an independent arbitrator determined that Knighton likely ingested the banned substance unknowingly through contaminated meat.
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) stated that Knighton bore no fault or negligence despite the positive test. Usada's CEO, Travis Tygart, remarked that "justice was served."
Trenbolone is a growth promoter used legally in beef cattle in the United States.
This decision was made before the US track and field Olympic trials starting on June 21 in Oregon.
Knighton made headlines as the youngest male to qualify for the US Olympic team since 1964, competing in the Tokyo Games in 2021 and finishing fourth in the 200m final at just 17 years old.
