Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's Participation in IND vs SL ODI Series in Doubt.

Indian cricket stars Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah are unlikely to join the team for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka later this month.

Reports from PTI indicate that the Indian cricket board has opted to grant additional rest to the T20 World Cup-winning captain and these two senior players.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli possibly sitting out, the captaincy reins for the ODIs against Sri Lanka could pass to either all-rounder Hardik Pandya or wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul. This decision marks a potential shift in leadership dynamics, offering a glimpse into India's strategy for the series.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, key players in India's victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, are set to take a break for the Sri Lanka tour. They are expected to return refreshed for a packed schedule in September, starting with Bangladesh's tour of India for two Tests and three T20Is, kicking off on September 19.

According to an anonymous source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) speaking to PTI, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are assured spots in the ODI team. They will view the upcoming three ODIs against England as crucial preparation ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Afterward, their attention will turn to Test matches, as India is slated to play 10 Tests between September and January.
