PV Sindhu will be India's flagbearer in Commonwealth Games 2022 opening ceremony.

After the exit of Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra from the Commonwealth Games 2022, double Olympic medalist badminton ace PV Sindhu is named as the flagbearer of the Indian contingent for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The opening ceremony will be held on July 28, 2022, at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

Previously, PV Sindhu was the flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Earlier Neeraj Chopra was expected to be the flag-bearer but due to groin injury at the World Championships forced him to withdraw his name from the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The 2022 edition of the Commonwealth Games has the largest female athletes participants in the history of the Games.
