Olympic Champion Athing Mu Falls Short in US Trials, Will Miss Paris 2024.

Reigning women's Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu will miss the 2024 Paris Games after failing to qualify in the US Olympic trials.

The 22-year-old Athing Mu tripped about 200m into the race in Eugene, Oregon, finishing last.

Nia Akins won the race and will head to Paris with runner-up Allie Wilson and third-placed Juliette Whittaker.

Mu was expected to be a key competitor against Team GB's Keely Hodgkinson, who won silver behind Mu in Tokyo.

In the men's 400m, Quincy Hall overtook 2022 world champion Michael Norman after the final turn, winning in 44.14 seconds.

"I know I can run a lot faster than I did," Norman said. "It was just a poorly executed race. I got too excited and paid for it at the end."

Chris Bailey finished third and will compete in Paris, while 16-year-old Quincy Wilson placed sixth, putting him in the mix for the relay pool.
