McDonald Assures Marsh's Bowling Fitness for World Cup Opener.

Captain Mitchell Marsh won't be able to bowl until the last week before Australia's T20 World Cup squad departs for the Caribbean. However, Coach Andrew McDonald is optimistic that Marsh will regain full fitness in time for the tournament's opening game.

Marsh suffered a hamstring tear and had to leave the IPL early last month. His recovery has been slower than anticipated since returning home from India.

Marsh recently joined a training camp in Brisbane along with other Australian squad members who are not part of the IPL. This camp is the first of two three-day sessions scheduled over the next couple of weeks before the team departs for the Caribbean on May 25.

Initially, Marsh wasn't expected to join the first training camp due to his hamstring injury.

However, his condition improved, allowing him to participate and bat in the nets for the past two days. Despite this progress, Coach McDonald confirmed that Marsh won't be fit to bowl until much closer to the tournament.

"You probably won't see him bowl in the next couple of weeks here," McDonald informed reporters.

"It'll probably happen the week before we leave. And then he'll be able to ramp that up when we're over there. We'll be able to choose the moments during the tournament where he'll be useful with the ball. We've got some all-round depth in the squad, which gives us good coverage anyway."
