Man Utd Nearing £33.7m Agreement for Striker Zirkzee.

Manchester United is on the brink of finalizing a £33.7m deal to acquire Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. 

The young talent, known for his impressive goal-scoring abilities and sharp instincts, is expected to add a new dimension to United's attacking lineup. This move marks another strategic effort by the club to bolster their squad and compete at the highest levels. 

Fans eagerly await the official announcement, anticipating the impact Zirkzee will have at Old Trafford.

Sources reveal that Manchester United will pay a slight premium over the £33.67m release clause to secure an extended payment period for 23-year-old Joshua Zirkzee. 

This strategic move allows the club to manage their finances while adhering to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) regarding loss limits, highlighting the tight and disciplined approach required in their transfer dealings.

With long-serving forward Anthony Martial leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season when his contract expired, and Marcus Rashford experiencing a dip in form, new signing Rasmus Hojlund has been shouldering the striking burden. 

Zirkzee’s arrival aims to alleviate this pressure, providing United with a fresh attacking option and much-needed depth in their forward lineup.

Hojlund lost his starting spot in Ten Hag’s lineup for the FA Cup final against Manchester City, with Bruno Fernandes taking on a false nine role instead.

Joshua Zirkzee started his career at Bayern Munich after joining from Feyenoord in 2017. He moved to Bologna for around £7.15m five years later, following loan spells at Parma and Anderlecht. 

Last season, Zirkzee scored 12 goals in 37 appearances, helping Bologna secure an unexpected spot in the Champions League.

Included in Ronald Koeman’s Euro 2024 squad, Zirkzee made only two substitute appearances for the Netherlands, totaling four minutes plus injury time. He came on right after Ollie Watkins scored the winner in the semi-final defeat to England.
