London Lions Fall 75-68 to Besiktas in EuroCup Women's Final First Leg.

The London Lions lost 75-68 to Besiktas in the opening leg of their EuroCup Women's final, which took place in Istanbul.

Holly Winterburn led the scoring for the London Lions with 23 points, but the team trailed behind Besiktas throughout the EuroCup Women's final's first leg in Istanbul.

Earlier in March, the London Lions made history by becoming the first British basketball team to reach a European final after defeating Umana Reyer Venice.

The Lions will now aim to turn things around in the second leg at London's Copper Box Arena on 10 April to overcome their seven-point deficit.

Besiktas, led by Dana Evans with 20 points and Jovana Nogic contributing 18, proved to be a tough opponent with their strong performance.

Despite falling behind by 18 points in the third period, the Lions fought back with 12 unanswered points to keep their championship hopes alive.

Looking ahead to the decisive second leg, the Lions, led by Styliani Kaltsidou, are also focused on pursuing their third consecutive domestic title in the Women's British Basketball League. They are counting on the support of their home crowd in Stratford next Wednesday at 19:00 BST.
