Liverpool's Thiago Announces Retirement After Departure.

Thiago Alcantara has hung up his boots following his departure from Liverpool at the end of his contract. The midfield maestro, known for his exquisite ball control and visionary passing, announced his retirement, capping off a stellar career that saw him grace the pitches of Europe's top leagues.

Thiago leaves behind a legacy of elegance and excellence, having contributed significantly to Liverpool's midfield dynamism during his tenure at Anfield.

Former Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantara, 33, has announced his retirement from football after leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract. Injuries limited his appearances, with just one match during the 2023-24 season.

"I will always be willing to give back what I have been given and I am grateful for the time, I have enjoyed it," Thiago shared on social media. "Thank you, football. And to all who accompanied me and made me a better player and person along the way."

Thiago underwent hip surgery towards the end of the 2022-23 season but only managed to return in February 2024. He came on as a late substitute in a match against Arsenal, only to suffer another injury, marking his 98th appearance for Liverpool since joining from Bayern Munich in 2020.

During his time at Liverpool, Thiago won the FA Cup in the 2021-22 season. His illustrious career also includes seven Bundesliga titles and the Champions League with Bayern Munich, as well as four La Liga titles and another Champions League win with Barcelona.

Born in Italy, where his father Mazinho, a former Brazil winger, played for Lecce, Thiago joined Barcelona at 14 and went on to represent Spain 46 times between 2011 and 2021.

As he steps away from the pitch, Thiago leaves behind a legacy of skill and resilience, having graced some of the world's top football stages.
